Jackson, Mississippi
Burns Cooley Dennis, Inc. (BCD) provided geotechnical engineering and construction testing services for The Meridian at Fondren, a mixed-use development in Jackson, Mississippi. The development is situated on an approximate 4.25-acre parcel of land located across from the UMMC campus along the north side of Lakeland Drive. The Meridian at Fondren building basically consists of a one-level, cast-in-place concrete frame structure supporting three to four levels of wood-frame structure above, with the bottom level of the building serving as a parking garage.
BCD’s geotechnical investigation services included exploratory soil borings, laboratory testing, and engineering recommendations for earthwork, the building foundation, retaining walls and pavement. A deep foundation of bell-bottom piers penetrating into unweathered blue Yazoo clays (CH) was recommended for support of the building and retaining walls.
